With a view to ignite the young minds of our enthusiastic children the volunteers of NISHQAM planned a visit to the DELHI ZOO on 1st march,2009. The little hearts could not contain their excitement as they waited in the bus eating biscuits n toffees and we queued up to get the entry tickets.
Each one of them had their own plans. Their interests in animals varied from monkeys to lions and even snakes for a few. But the Zoological park gave them much more than that. It brought them a step closer to the creations of nature. They saw with great elation the hippopotamus take a bath in the muddy water. Their eyes rolled as they watched the king of the jungle taking a stroll right in front of their eyes.
Unaware of the complexities of nature and its various life cycles the children had plain fun running around in the zoo observing and exploring the diverse species. We introduced to them certain simple concepts of living as a single entity in the nature and they were more than willing to learn. The exchange of knowledge was rather mutual as they enthusiastically told us about the various trees they had seen in their village and their advantages as well.
The icing on the cake was the small picnic we had arranged for them at INDIA GATE. After all the ”MASTI” and “MAZA” the one thing that made our day was when the children said:
“DIDI !AAJ BAHUT MAZA AAYA”
