'efforts by nishkam for bihar flood relief'

To counter the national calamity that was affecting Bihar, the Social Service Club of CITM “ Nishkam” decided to launch a relief campaign for the beleaguered people of Bihar.

The floods have completely devastated numerous districts of Bihar. People have not only lost shelter but are also struggling for the very basic needs of food and water, and their very existence has been threatened. Those affected by this national catastrophe have to start their lives afresh. Just imagining the amount of hurdles the victims are going through, is no less a nightmare. We here at CITM, decided to come forward and act in this regard. The Social Service Club of CITM organized a clothes donation camp in the college wherein we collected old clothes, footwear, matchboxes, candles, utensils, torches and other items that could help the victims. We also did a fund raising activity within CITM wherein we collected almost Rs. Twenty Seven Thousand in a single day .We sent three volunteers to Bihar to disburse personally all the relief material bought through the funds .The volunteers not only gained a first hand view of the situation in Bihar but also assessed the immediate actions required to be taken. On their return ,an interaction with them, not only threw light on the grim situation facing our fellow countrymen in Bihar but also motivated us to continue the relief efforts with renewed vigour.
